Almost 11 months - Still nauseous

The various unpleasant manifestations of Helicobacter can be described here. Remember however that the great majority of persons with Hp have no symptoms that they are aware of and consider themselves normal.

Almost 11 months - Still nauseous

Post by Bunkergeist »

Hey,

Scoped and diagnosed as chronic gastritis with low level inflammation 7-8 months ago. My symptom is nausea. I was feeling nauseous after eating but now I feel it almost all day & night long. I was better 2-3 months ago tho. Not %100 but was feeling good enough. Than nausea came back with vengeance. My biopsy report for HP was negative. I was taking PPI during those days tho.

Well, lost 20 kgs around. All blood tests are ok. Got ultrasound and that was ok. No prob at all. Just mild gastritis but still nauseous all the time. PPIs did not help me at all.

Also got severe nausea 2 years ago. It lasted 2 months. Got stool test and that was negative but my doc gave me triple therapy for HP after all. I finished those meds, and was still nauseous. But after 2 weeks, I felt perfect. No nausea at all. I felt like I'm reborn. Btw, I took PPI+amx and clr for triple therapy.

Now, I certainly cannot tolerate any fruits. No banana, no apple. I'm ok with beans, eerhm mostly. Sometimes I eat brown rice with beans and that's troublefree, but sometimes that meal throws me into hell. IDK what's happening in my stomach.

What's your idea?

Also, if I give it a try triple therapy again, meds should be same or swap clr for metro? Or something?

Thank you.

I'm really sick and tired of this.

Also got one more question.

I know that the bug cannot develop a resistance against amx and bismuth and I read some studies on pubmed that shows bismuth increases eradication rate significantly. So I'll add bismuth to my theraphy for 600 mg daily (300 mg twice a day) Is it ok? Before or after meals? Can make a difference?

Had blood & stool tests before and those were negative. I don't trust lab results after all. I live in Turkey now.

it's not a good practice to take antibiotics without knowing what's causing your problem. I am glad that the your first triple therapy, although not given you 100% health, but it does improve your overall quality of life.

So, i wouldnt suggest you to try again, especially with the same set of antibiotics. Because if there is still H. pylori, they will be resistance to clarithromycin.

Also, everytime you take such heavy antibiotics, you are also killing all the good bacteria in your intestine. It's by chance that the good bacteria grow back faster than the bad bacteria. Some people complain that they developed IBD after antibiotic treatment and because it is such a poorly understood area, nobody knows what to do to cure these people.

most importantly, every doctors and scientists in the world are facing a very big problem. Antibiotic resistance. by taking antibiotics without control, you are pushing the guts bacteria to evolve. China is the best example. They abuse antibiotics so much, now there are bacteria that are resistant to the human last resort.

and worse... it seems like it has spread across the globe.

Abusing antiobiotics is common fact in here, too.

Well, that was 2 years ago. I mean, my first triple theraphy. Stool test was negative for H. Pylori at those times as I said but the doc I've met gave me triple theraphy after all and he said that, H. Pylori cannot seen easily, so you can take those meds. I took them for 14 days and I felt much better. I finished that theraphy and still felt nauseous but a bit better and after 2 weeks I finished theraphy, I really felt great. No nausea at all for a year and half. Than it comes at this february.

And now, still feel nauseous since 11 months and my all tests are ok. Even HIV/AIDS, ultrasounds, tons of blood tests etc. But I'm still nauseous. Like 2 years ago. So because of this, I think I have to give it a try, even my blood and stool tests were negative. I read an article in here, a guy who get double negative from blood and stool test for H. pylori but has some constant stomach pains. But he took triple theraphy for HP and healed as I read. It seems it's possible to get negative results from those tests. I also do not trust lab test results for H. Pylori in here as I said before.

Sorry for my english if it's really bad. But hell no, I feel nauseous all the time.

I mean, 2 years ago, got horrid nauseous days that lasted 2 months and the doc gave me triple theraphy for my nausea (stool test was negative for HP tho) and I was perfect and no nausea at all after 4 weeks. (triple therapy was 14 days course)

Well, at this february, horrible nausea came back again and still with me since 11 months. My appetite is pretty good now but feel nauseous almost all the time. IDK if I had H. Pylori 2 years ago but all tests are troublefree now. It seems there is not reason for my nausea, but I feel very nauseous unfortunately. Cause of this, I give it a try triple theraphy again. Those meds healed me 2 years ago and saved me from nightmareland. Maybe those meds couldn't eradicate the bug completely. This is one of the possibilities that nausea came with vengeance after 2 years.

I want to try again but would add bismuth for higher rate of eradication and sacc. boulardi for less sides from antiobios. PPI, amox and clr.

Any wrong with that?

Never get breath test but I don't trust any HP tests in here (Turkey)

Suffering influenza/cold/flu since 2-3 days, it's almost over tho but I'm still on it. So read that bismuth cannot be used while on influenza, it may turn to rene syndrome. Should I wait to get rid of it to start H. Pylori treatment?

Helico expert, please?

Update.

I began standard triple therapy today. Lansoprazole 30 mg, amox 100 mg, clr 500 mg, all twice daily. I didn't add bismuth yet, cause still got influenza a bit. I can add bismuth to theraphy in second week of antiobio course. I added sacc boulardii probiotics 250 mg a day to increase eradication rate and avoid possibly GI side effects, and C. difficile. Here's the study about it,

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21039671

I'll also drink milk kefir just one cup daily. It can increase eradication rate and less side effects. Here's the study,

http://www.naturalmedicinejournal.com/j ... -treatment

Feel nauseous since 11 months and my all tests are ok as I said before. My only symptoms is nausea. Sometimes it gets worse, sometimes better but it's with me most of the time. I never get urea breath test cause it's high pricey and new in here unfortunately. So that theraphy healed me 2 years ago. I'm gonna give it a try again, with sacc boulardii, milk kefir and maybe bismuth salt.

Took first pills and nausea increased a bit and my appetite decreased unfortunately. But I never give up. Hoping that I'll eradicate that bug. My only concern is about antiobiotic resistance. Amox resistance is not common but metro/clr resistances are high in Turkey. This is why I'd like to add bismuth, sacc boulardii and milk kefir.

Any recommendation/idea on this?

i cannot recommend anything without knowing if you are H. pylori positive. Perhaps you want to consider an endoscopy with proper histology diagnosis?
