treatment is now over

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

treatment is now over

Post by bremi »

Hi
First of all sorry for my English, but I'm writing from Italy.
My mom discovered to be affected by HP last summer. HP caused gastric and ulcer as well.
It is now three weeks that the treatment based on antibiotics that lasted two weeks (here in Italy it is known as sequential),is over.
But since the last 3 days of treatment, severe pains to addoms and back appeared. They are even more severe than before the treatment. Is this normal or is this a symptom that sth is going wrong?
To keep pains quiet as they are really difficult to be tolerated, my mum' s doctor gave her paracetamol. It is the only thing making pains lighter, but now it is 3 weeks that she is going on using paracetamol, hence she is scared about collateral effects.

Last week, as per her doctor advise, she went to check the tumoral markers and ce 19 o and cea appeared not aligned to the value range. Is this something we need to be scared of? Or are these markers just reflecting the HP presence jointly with ulcer and gastric.

Please, could you give us your advice?

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your story. If you look through this forum, you'll see a few similar cases. But I think it's important to know if H. pylori still present. It is however the root of the problem. So can you get your mother to check, via breath test, to see if the HP is completely eradicated?

Also, when is the last time your mother did an endoscopy check? if it's more than a year, perhaps it will be a good idea to organise another endoscopy check. Just to make sure there is no abnormality in the stomach.

Hp was discovered through a gastroscopy, made to check stomach conditions.
Breath test is scheduled in 2 weeks, as we were told that it is necessary to wait at least 4 weeks after the treatment before doing it

if there is nothing too serious being detected in the endoscopy, perhaps there is no real worry needed. Yes, you'll have to wait at least 2 weeks (best 4 weeks) for the follow up breath test to confirm the treatment is working.

Nothing was highlighted except hp, ulcer and gastrict.
Do you have any suggestions to help in making pains less severe?
