PPI'S

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

PPI'S

Post by steffy1231 »

Is it common to get stomach aches while on PPI'S? I am on my 6th dose today and have to take them for 1 month. Just finished triple therapy for h pylori. I am getting cramps in the area just below my belly button and it seems that I am having trouble digesting my food. Any suggestions? I was so looking forward to feeling better after the antibiotics but I am still in pain.

perhaps your cramps are from the side effects of your antibiotics? give yourself a few days and see if it gets better. Get a breath test 4 weeks after stopping your antibiotics to confirm the H. pylori eradication.

the side effect should subside quickly once it's out your system. usually within a week.

Yes, PPIs can cause stomach cramps and stomach aches. But should be minor, if they are severe, contact your Doc. I got the cramps in the same area and mild pain. Try to chew it more times before swallowing it. get tested to see if you are gluten allergic, if so avoid the gluten foods like bread, etc. if you don't have the time to get tested, try to avoid gluten foods for 2 days and see if it makes any difference. Also while eating, try to eat slowly and concentrate on something else, like a movie or some other news item or something, to stop thinking about ur tummy.
