Treatment for H.Pylori

Post by bobby123 »

Hi I'm wondering if anyone could advise me on my result of my gastroscopy/endoscopy 06/06/2013. For my endoscopy it says that there is a small diverticulum in the second part of duodenum, which my gp said was a blip nothing to worry about. There is also mild inflammation at OG junction (40cm) and antral part oof of stomach. It also Gastritis - non erosive / erythematous and oesophagitis - erosive. Still my GP said nothing to worry about. I receive a letter from the hospital saying I had H.Pylori and to go to my GP for medicine. When I went to my GP she said I didn't have many options for treatment as I am allergic to amoxicillin and metronidazole. She told me to carry on taking 40mg of omeprazole a day, which I have been taking for over a year for reflux and she has given me clarithromycin 1000mg a day for 2 weeks. Should this be enough to get rid of H.Pylori as I have noticed people are taking 3 different medications. I have no idea what any of the diagnosis mean and my GP didn't sound too certain either. I started the antibiotics on Monday and since then my stomach pain is worse especially round the ribs, I feel sick, weak and very tired. I think I may be getting oral thrush and am suffering with headaches. I daren't go back to my GP in case she stops them and I am going carry looking like i'm 9months pregnant, piling on the weight and suffering bad from stomach aches and acid. I got diagnosed with IBS 11 years ago and I've recently been told I have fluid in my womb, this my GP said she has no idea why I would have fluid in my womb and gave me antibiotic cream. I hope you can help me, I suffer from anxiety and the worry of not knowing isn't helping.

some people got it work on PPI and Chlarithromycin. but the cure rate is pretty low. Nevertheless, you never know. we shall see how it goes after your completed your treatment. one month later, you should do a breath test to see if H. pylori is still there.

meanwhile, you can have a look at the following article that we published last December. we mentioned treatment plan for penicillin sensitive patients. We mentioned quite a difference of antibiotic combinations. So you can show it to your doctor and see if she can access to any of them.

Bismuth can be repetitively used. H. pylori will not get resistance to it. if you just started your clarithromycin treatment, you can add bismuth in to boost the treatment.
