Hi,
I was diagnosed with H Pylori last fall. The Prevpac did not help at all. After the second treatment which was protonix, pepto, tinidazole, and another antibiotic of which I cannot remember, I felt like a whole new person (I ate a whole jar of Manuka honey during this time too). I had energy, I wasn't belching after ever thing I ate, the ache in my back and under my arm went away.
Shortly after finishing the round, the symptoms starting coming back. I waited the prescribed time for the breath test, which resulted in a negative.
I got a renewed prescription for the protonix, which helps but does not help 100%. I've had a gall bladder ultra sound which was negative. I recently had an endoscopy, which showed a polyp that was confirmed "chronic gastritis". Based on that result, is it possible I still have H Pylori? Last week, I ate a meal that was potato encrusted salmon, baked potato, salad, green beans. I ate a very small portion and then was up half the night in pain and profusely belching.
I am scheduled for a gall bladder HIDA scan in 2 weeks. I have been insistent on checking it out because my mother had similar issues for years and had her gallbladder removed as an emergency last summer (she had pancreatitis) and my grandmother died of an infected gall bladder-she also belched incessantly.
I gather we are all in the same boat and have the same questions....this is frustrating. Based on the "chronic gastritis" polyp diagnosis, is it possible I still have h pylori?
