Post treatment and retest

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

I am glad the therapy successfully eradicated your H. pylori.
Sorry to hear that your IBS is still there. Sometimes, the HP therapy also eradicate unknown IBS bacteria.
Nevertheless, knowing both your parents had cancer, you should monitor your body more frequently than normal people, eg. every 6-12 months.
Can I suggest you some genomic test? eg. 23andme?
it will state what kind of cancer gene you probably carrying and so you can monitor particular area more closely.
prevention is always better than cure.

I have similar symptoms to this, before and after IBS. However, post successful treatment I also now have bad gastritis which I didn't have before. I've now just started taking Omeprazole to help try to settle things down a little, which has pretty much stopped the general IBS feelings, but stomach is still very sensitive to anything at the moment.

My question - what percentage of successful treatments do end up with either gastritis remaining or starting up afterwards? And how long on average may it take to clear?

it's a very subjective question. Some people feel the positive effect immediately after H. pylori eradication and for some, took months and months before feeling better. If you read through this forum, you'll find a lot of people discussing about post treatment symptoms. However, you must be aware that most members here had little effect or worse effect after treatment. That's why they are trying to seek help. For those that work, dont normally post in this forum. So, dont get too discouraged by the treatment plan. Nevertheless, think positive is very important through out the treatment. Eat plenty of fruits and have balance diet. "BALANCE" is very important. excessively eating one type of "good" food will just turn it "bad".
