Hi all,
What is the recommendation for treatment for asymptomatic H Pylori tested positive on serology?
Patient never had gastritis symptoms before nor any scope been done.
The reason the test was being done as it's part of a package from a commercial lab for 'health screening'.
Many thanks for answering my queries.
Mike

The most common treatment would be Nexium HP7 and KLACID Hp7.

watchout for the side-effects of the antibiotics. then again, why you want to treat it if you are asymptomatic?

Do we treat Asymptomatic H Pylori? YOU BET!
I saw the comment from Helico_Expert - his is a rather conservative approach - common in the USA. However...
If the serology test was done at all, then the implication is that you will potentially treat the bug if it is found. Otherwise, why do the test? Since we have implications of cancer risk, ulcer risk and spread to family members, then even totally asymptomatic Hp should be treated.
My approach is; 1. Make certain of the positive diagnosis (consider a breath test) and discuss pros and cons with the patient, 2. Treat the bug, 3. Confirm cure with UBT, 4. If not cured then review the need for treatment in that patient before pressing on.
