Hi,
I had symptoms for about 2 months, nausea and upper abdominal gwaning feeling, plus appetite affected and had waves in the day feeling generally unwell , I think it was brought on due to a stressful situation. I went to the doctors and tested positive for helicobacter pylori. I have completed the 7 day treatment (Triple Therapy.geometry dash breeze) I was on 400mg Metronidazole 3 times a day, Amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day and Omeprazole 2 times a day. I've been off the medication for about 11 days. I have waves of extreme tiredness, abit sickly feeling, sick upper abdominal feeling, tounge doesn't look right, been given thrush treatment for this. And also I have waves of soreness and swelling feeling in the upper stomach. I have lost a bit of weight, a few pounds. I have been off work for a month in total and am wondering if I will ever get my health back?
I take probiotic tablets, Manuka honey, peppermint tea, abit of yoga, walking, plain foods. But admittedly at times I do feel a little bit destressed when I have waves of not feeling so good. Everyday is a battle at the moment. Plus when I go to the loo, last week my stools were acidic, this week a slight improvement, but not normal. The doctor just said they can retest in another 3 weeks. But sometimes I feel so ill.
Any advice in a positive way forward?

Re: Still feel unwell after Helicobacter Pylori Treatment
Hi,
Thank you for sharing your experience. While your symptoms could be related to an H. pylori infection, they may also have other causes. It sounds like you're going through a challenging time, and I’m glad your doctor recommended retesting in three weeks, which is a good step forward.
In the meantime, practices like yoga, honey, tea, and probiotics may help you maintain your well-being. Engaging in activities you enjoy can also be a great way to foster positive energy and lift your spirits.
Wishing you all the best on your journey to better health.

I went through a very similar post-treatment phase after H. pylori, and while it was scary and slow, things did gradually improve over several weeks, so continuing gentle care, probiotics, and definitely doing the retest as planned is a positive and realistic path forward.

Re: Still feel unwell after Helicobacter Pylori Treatment
I just wanted to say you’re not alone in this. Many people don’t feel “back to normal” immediately after H. pylori treatment, especially after strong antibiotics like triple therapy.orbit beats It can take weeks (sometimes a couple of months) for the stomach lining and gut flora to recover, even after the bacteria is cleared.
The waves of fatigue, upper stomach discomfort, appetite changes, and stool issues sound very similar to what others have described during the recovery phase. Antibiotics can really disrupt digestion, and stress can definitely make symptoms feel worse or more persistent. The fact that your stools have already shown some improvement is a small but positive sign.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this — what you’re describing is very real and very common after H. pylori treatment, even though it feels frightening and relentless when you’re in it.
First, some reassurance:
Yes, people do get their health back after this.
What you’re experiencing does not mean the treatment failed or that something serious is being missed.
Recovery after H. pylori is often slow and uneven, especially if symptoms were present for weeks/months and stress played a role.
