Need advice/help treatment

Dear all,

Im a 33 year old M from the Netherlands I have been struggling with H Pylori for awhile. I have bad inflammation in the duodenum due H Pylori. My symptoms are not too bad and under control with Mastic Gum and probiotics atm.

I failed the first treatment after 4 days, amoxicillin 1g, clarithromycin 500mg, 40mg pantaprozol. Due extreme anxiety, weight loss and i couldnt eat anymore.

Now the gi doc prescribed me a new treatment after endoscopy;
4x Tetracycline 250mg, 2x Metronidazol 500mg, 2x esomeprazol 20mg for 14 days.

My question is, is this treatment good? We dont have Bismuth or Pepto bismol in my country and i worry abit now, scared that i wont survive that treatment

Thank you for sharing your story.
It's unfortunate that your first treatment failed. However, it's good to know that you are not allergic to amoxicillin.

Amoxicillin is a very good antibiotic and it is very hard for H. pylori to become resistant to. So you can repetitively use it.

Your current treatment PTM (PPI + tetracycline + metronidazole) is ok. It will be better if you can include bismuth compound.

Actually, each patient has its own treatment regimenbasketbros. Your question will be difficult. Only those who have performed this treatment can easily have the most objective assessment.

Just follow the treatment regimen given by your doctor, the rest depends on your progress in receiving the medicine

While bismuth compounds can enhance treatment effectiveness, they are not always necessary. Your current regimen should still be effective without them. papa's games

I think there is no harm adding bismuth in your treatment.
1. you dont get serious side effect from bismuth.
2. H. pylori dont become resistant to bismuth.
3. bismuth can increase cure rate.
4. bismuth may reduce c. diff complication due to heavy antibiotics
