H. Pylori Endoscopy Findings

Good morning everybody!

I am currently awaiting my histology report from my endoscopy.

Meanwhile, the endoscopy findings revealed active, acute moderate gastritis in the antrum and active, acute moderate duodenitis.

Despite my breath test 4 weeks post-treatment saying H. Pylori is "not detected", do these endoscopy findings seem consistent with an active H. Pylori infection?

active gastritis is usually a hint to a potential infection.
since H. pylori is the only pathogen able to colonise in the stomach, we would consider an active gastritis as presence of H. pylori.

However, we should also try to understand why did you get negative breath test?
how negative is the negative result?
is it a C13 or C14 breath test?
is your stomach producing acid?

Unfortunately the lab I go to seems to only give a Detected/Not Detected range.

I was tested with the BreathTek UBT test kit. I'm not sure if that is C13 or C14.

I'm fairly certain my stomach is producing acid - I also didn't use any PPI for 4 weeks prior to testing.

What if an endoscopy only found "acute, moderate gastritis" with no mention of the word "active"? Would that be an endoscopy evaluation that is consistent with no more H. Pylori, just the inflammation it left behind?

if the pathologist did not do a specific immuno strain, then H. pylori is very difficult to spot.

the gastritis level is only a clue.

But since endoscopy is difficult procedure, I think a second breath test is sufficient to confirm the eradication.
