HP exterminated, but still have pain & atrophic gastritis

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

HP exterminated, but still have pain & atrophic gastritis

Post by Yankee »

Hi,

First of all, sorry for my english. Here is my story about atrophic gastritis and HP:

I was diagnotised with atrophic gastritis with HP in juin 2015 after 1 year of pain and acid reflux. I've followed the treatment to eradicate the hp. weeks after, the breath test become negative. so, i was very happy and I hope that this was the end of my estomac issues.

BUT I still have pains 6months after he eradication. And now the pain is constant, I have pain ALL the time, day&night. The doctor seems to not be very convainced. I was living at Paris. and I'm now living in Canada, I don't have health insurance yet (:

So, I've looked on internet and found some "natural" remedies: licorice dgl, zinc carnonsine. when start taking zin carnosine, the pain disappears. But weeks after, the pain become constant. No matter what I take, I have pain!

Please help!!!

The only way to avoid having pain, is to not eat anything and having empty estomac. I've stopped eating during 24h, and my pain has gone. And just after I start eating again the pain comes back.

Again, sorry for my bad english, and thank you in advance for your help.

Best Regards

At least you know that your HP has been eradicated. However, to be one the safe sake. Maybe you should repeat the breath test again in Canada. 2 negatives from separate laboratory has to be correct. Of course, you'll have to make sure you are not taking any acid reducing agent. Please discuss with your doctor before doing the breath test.

Once you are confirmed free of H. pylori, then we can focus on the healing. Perhaps you need some PPI to aid the stomach healing.

Thank you for advices and tips. I will be able to do the test again as of january. I will have a private health insurance.

I start yesterday taking omeprazole, from my "stock" I bring with me from Paris. I have less pain today.

I want to start sport, specially boxe, but I don't know if this will hurt my estomac as the boxe is a "hard" sport? otherwise, What sport could you advise me?

Also, do you think that it is wise to take omeprazole, along with licorice dgl and zinc carnonsine? I'm really afraid to combine all these stuffs together in my estomac.

I recently notice that I can't tolerate probiotics yogourt anymore. If I take probiotics yogourt, I will have horrible pain. I become miserable, desperate of life, and completly demotivated, as the pain in awfull.

Somehow, I have some bacterias that are fighting the strains in the yogourt. What do you think?

Many thanks.

interesting. do you think you may be allergic to certain food? or even lactose intolerance? because very little people experience side effect from probiotics.

I don't know. I never had this kind of issues by the past. I will discuss that with the doctor. I've tryed probiotics pills but it was unbearable.

Now, I'm on omeprazole, DGL licorice, and sometimes gaviscon. I stop taking zinc carnosine. I'm going to add soon elm slippery in my list.

I pay attention to everything I eat. I can drink milk (with small reflux 1hour after...), but I avoid yogourt and specially the probiotics ones.

I drink chamomille tea, ginger juice, and rooibos tea.

One day I decided to eat nothing and the pain HAS GONE. But after 12h of fasting, I was very hungry, so i eat some foods. the pain come back again.

What I'm sure about now, is that I can not digest legumes like lentils and red beans. I found them intact at the end... So, I stop eating these legumes.

Just for you information

Some Zinc L-carnosine supplements have additives of acid suppression...in which could void your breathe test results.
It would be good to take off any supplements for your breathe test to be certain of your H.pylori eradication.

Some supplements could also irritate your stomach lining...and sadly, could damage it if you have not consulted with an experienced physician.

The content of the yogurt could have high sugar content, or fruits "adds". If you are still having issues with GREEK yogurt, then I believe you might be lactose intolerance.

Take care, and hope you recover fast.

Thank you for advices and information.

Acutally, I'd really like to follow the conventional way to treat my gastritis, but what to do when the doctors have ONLY 5mins time to talk about a permanent pain? They don't have time to give more infos...

Sometimes, I have the feeling to have much more information on internet than when I go to doctors. So, I tried everything. I know it's not the best way to manage my gastritis, it's just hopeless... (:

Everytime I try new supplement, I tell myself this time I will have miracle, but either I get short relief or the pain become too hard (ex: I got irritation with DGL licorice...I stopped it).

The next I 'm going to try is chlorophyll for 2weeks... (hard to have appointment with doctor in Canada).

Hi,

Understood.
I am post treatment with UBT negative since mid Nov.
First month was getting "better" feeling.

I have been having lightheadedness last 2 days, and feeling mild bloat again these 2 days.

I understand your feeling about getting the 5 mins consultation with the doctor. Perhaps, getting an alternate doctor if you can.

if you have a juicer, you could try to get some carrots + cabbage to drink about 3 times a day.
Perhaps start with a small quantity to see if you can handle them. I hear it helps gastritis sometimes.

Aside that perhaps try some natural fruits and vegetables instead of taking supplement pills?.
Hope it works. there are some fruit diets on google...but none I could recommend as varies from people to people.
If you are still taking flour-based food; bread, biscuits, cakes, pasta...perhaps you could stop them, or perhaps take 1-2 slice only, and gradually reduce them and see?.

Some alkaline vegetables and fruits?...watermelon, papaya, banana, ...might be a good choice?.

Hope this helps.
