Hi,
I am new to these forums, and reside in the UK. I finished the triple therapy treatment two weeks ago, and I am feeling a lot better but I still have these little bubbles of gas that come up in the back of my throat sometimes after eating, other times when I just swallow saliva. My main symptom was severe gas and burping from the minute I woke up until the minute I went to bed. I know the recovery time can take a while following treatment, so am I right in thinking that the gas may take a while to go completely, or are these little gas bubbles a sign that the bacteria is still active? I was diagnosed by stool test, and there has been no mention of doing another test, but I will insist upon this. Do I need to wait 4 weeks following completion of treatment?

Re: Gas bubbles following treatment
unfortunately yes, you need to wait 3-4 weeks before the follow up test. I strongly recommend you do so. Then you can a peace of mind and can concentrate in the healing.
in regards to reflux after treatment, it happens to some, not many. The reason is unknown. Normally the reflux can be controlled via PPI. you can follow the following guideline to help you through before the follow up breath test.

Re: Gas bubbles following treatment
Hi
Thank you so much for the replies. The information I receive from my general doctor here in the UK is very minimal. I have had to do my own research and it has felt a little lonely at times.....good to have support and information on here. So is it possible that the gas bubbles are actually acid reflux? I don't get any acid taste in my mouth, no burning, no heartburn, nothing to suggest acidity. It actually just feels like the stomach is releasing excess gas - a couple of weeks ago if you pressed my stomach lightly you could hear the gas growling and bubbling.
Is it true that the bacteria actually produces the gas? Or is this a result of what the bacteria does to the stomach lining and general stomach condition? An answer to this would really help me understand what has been going on in my body all this time! I am wondering how a person could be full of so much gas! And how I can help clear it....if there are any ways to do this!
Thank you.

Re: Gas bubbles following treatment
i know a few people, when they are stressed (or nervous), they burped non stop. They are all free of H. pylori and have a perfect stomach without inflammation. so, it is unknown what causes it.
The following answer may not relate to your actual problem, but yes, H. pylori produces gas such as ammonia. the ammonia is immediately dissolved as alkaline to neutralize the acid.
