After the treatment
I was on H pylori treatment for 2 weeks and yesterday was my last day. What surprises me is i did not have any side effects. Now worried that maybe it did not work or maybe my stomach can tolerate antibiotics for 2 weeks. Today i took bio k which is a probiotic and planning on taking one a day for 7 days.

Re: After the treatment
you are the lucky one without side effects. Please book yourself another urea breath test a month later to confirm the eradication of H. pylori.

Re: After the treatment
yea.. we need more stories like yours. Most people had side effects, became very worried and joined this forum. So this forum is heavily biased to people with lots of failure and side effects.
Anyway, you will need to wait a month before your next breath test.

Re: After the treatment
I thought I would chime in here as well. I know reading posts on online medical forums generally can cause crazy anxiety.
I had pretty debilitating stomach pain for a few months before starting treatment. To be clear, rolling on the ground clutching my stomach, drive-me-to-the-emergency-room pain. I've severely dislocated my shoulder, completely ruptured my pectoral muscle (read: torn from the bone), and come down with a very uncomfortable case of active tuberculosis - none of these compare to the the stomach ulcer. In the middle of it, I thought I was going to have to quit my job and/or get a divorce. The pain was crippling.
Anyways, after a detour of taking proton pump inhibitors and being treated for gastritis, I was finally able to complete a breath test and it confirmed that I had H. Pylori. My recovery was actually very slow - I think it was almost a few weeks before the pain began to subside and I was able to let go of some of my worries that I had a resistant strain. I'm guessing the ulcer was pretty severe and it just needed the time to heal.
At any rate, I'm "fine" now. I definitely have a more sensitive stomach but it doesn't affect me too much. I still drink too much coffee. Occasionally, I get that food stuck in the throat sensation while eating - it's almost always after drinking alcohol or generally abusing my stomach in some way. I'm cured.
My wife shared a reddit post with me about Dr. Marshall's crazy story and it reminded me that I should post to this forum to let everyone else know that things get better. I was a very active reader when I was still infected - I think I would have appreciated a post like this at that time.

Re: After the treatment
Wonderful story. It is unfortunate that the healing can sometimes take times. But, you know it's going to the right direction.
So, you mentioned that you are still infected with H. pylori?

UPDATE
I had a follow up appointment to check if i still i had h pylori. This time i did stool sample test. It was negative. I am so happy and relieved.
How i knew i had this bug. was I was having issue with itchy skin and i went to the allergy doctor and he ran bunch of test. When i talk about itchy skin i mean itch feet hands body and it made me cry. My husband did not understand. I will be at a restaurant and the itchy would start i would scatch and cry tears. I was positive for h phylori, dust mites and nickel. The doc said not to worry about h phylori many people have it. He said i might just have dry skin to use some Rx lotion. I did not buy the lotion because i was not happy with the answer. I did some research on line
i went to see GI doctor and told him i want this bug killed
. He said he has the same bug should not worry about it but if really want to try the treatment he will Rx the medication. He listened to me and guess what NO MORE ITCHY skin.
Go with you gut instinct. I will answer any questions. H PYLORI FREE
Before the treatment i tried natural way like using tumeric, garlic etc and it did not work

Congratulation! I can really feel your joy. We need more members like you to boost everyone moral in H. pylori treatment. especially without the side effects from the antibiotic treatment. perhaps you can share some stories about your probiotic diet?
