First treatment didn't work...

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

does this means the antibiotics is working?
Oh I have the same problem. For some time I feel better, but after 2-3 hours it's coming back again.
What can it be?

I am in same situation, was diagnosed with this 3wk ago, first antibiotics made me very ill so had to be changed, all antibiotics make me very ill so have to suffer a weeks course of pain and diarrhoea with them, but after course, I dont think its gone, and symptoms are returning..

Is antibiotics the only way to rid this thing?

Can they do like key hole surgery and burn it away or something?

My opinion is that significant side effects from antibiotics means that you are taking them (that's good!) and that they have reached high levels in your body (that is REALLY good!!). After finishing, take whatever helps and expect symptoms to settle. Have a breath test one month later to prove the Hp is gone. Then, if all clear, expect gradual improvement over the coming months as the stomach heals. Anything wierd happens then ask your doctor for advice - everyone is different unfortunately. Good Luck. ;)

I saw your reply here, I want to ask you, me in same situation. week of antibiotics and all of them make me very ill and hate taking them, but I suffered the course of treatment despite not being able to leave my home with bouts of diarrhoea every day from the antibiotics.

my question, is antibiotics the only thing that will make it go away?
Is there anything else can be done, like key hole surgery to maybe remove or burn it away or something?

Unfortunately, antibiotic treatment is the only way to get rid of H. pylori. In comparison to key hole surgery, antibiotics are much safer. You just need to be determine and patience to get rid of it. There are many regimen that you can try. What was the first line treatment you've tried?

My first line of treatments was antibiotics, Clarithromycin, and 2 other combined meds as well with this, but the Clarithromycin made me very ill and severely depressed, so the doctor had to change it to Erythromycin instead with the two other combined meds.

I had a week of diarrhoea with this as I do get with all antibiotics I take, but suffered it, I did the weeks course but I know I have this still as when eat certain things I get attacks of pain still, the doc said wait 4 wk after treatment see how it goes which I have nearly, then I bought manuka honey to help it. I will be going back to gp soon. I guess to be stuck on more meds again.

I was only diagnosed with this about 6 wk ago, I had no idea I even had an ulcer. I had symptoms for about 3 months and I just assumed it was IBS that I had, then went to my doctor and took a stool sample and was confirmed with this. Of which I never heard of until I had it, let alone trying to pronounce it. I am allergic to Penicillin so cant take that either.

I have been told its very hard to get rid of, so could this mean I could be in for a long haul until it heals then? Does this mean it could take months?

The treatment does take a while. But it is the only way to date to completely eradicate it. We have regimen for patients who are allergic to penicillin. If you happened to find out that your first line treatment failed. You can discuss with your GP the possibility of trying our treatment plan, PBRC.
