Hi,
I have been having stomach discomfort, mainly upper abdomen gastritis and bloating to start off with since April. This went on for a 3-4 weeks and then I started getting nausea. I got a stool test done in end of may, which came out positive for H Pylori. I took the triple dose Amoxicillin, Metranidazole and Omeprazole twice a day for a week.
The treatment finished 10 days ago. I felt mild abdominal pain but not Nausea for 5-6 days post treatment. Now,my abdominal discomfort is gone but I am feeling really nauseous, fatigued and dizzy for the last 2-3 days.
Is this normal for some symptoms to return post treatment? Could this be the after effect of taking these strong meds?
My B12 levels were quite low and I took the B12 injections in first week of April.
I was wondering whether this nausea is the H Pylori symptom and will get better as my stomach recovers or could it be something to with B12 deficiency?
Thanks

Re: Post Treatment Nausea
Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency involve the digestive tract. These symptoms include nausea (feeling sick to your stomach) and vomiting, heartburn, abdominal bloating and gas, constipation or diarrhea, loss of appetite, and weight loss.
Side effects from meds, may not last for like 10 days after the treatment.
Did your physician order CBC (complete blood test) to see if the RBC number is good, to rule out amemia?
How is your appetite?

Re: Post Treatment Nausea
you have good chance of B12 recovery after H. pylori eradication.
Re: Post Treatment Nausea
I got a full blood test 3 months ago when I was having B12 deficiency symptoms. My blood count was normal. Only B12 was low. I was give B12 injections back then.
I went to see the doctor day before yesterday for continues Nausea and Dizziness. He reckons that my Dizziness is unrelated to Stomach Infection and it might be "Ear Dizziness", which is very common here in UK. I have been taking medicines for Dizziness and I am feeling a lot better.
My upper abdominal pain is also almost gone now. Just feel a bit bloated occasionally but this is rare. Slight nausea and dizziness still persist but they seem to be on the decline. I think nausea could probably be a left over symptom of H Pylori. I had similar nausea before I started H Pylori treatment.
Looks like its on the path to recovery but still some way to go.

That is good. I read somewhere that the low B12 corrected itself after h-pylori treatment, so you are in the right track.a_prab wrote:I got a full blood test 3 months ago when I was having B12 deficiency symptoms. My blood count was normal. Only B12 was low. I was give B12 injections back then.

Lightheartedness is different from dizziness. Are you having lightheartedness or dizziness?
Are you having this feeling after eating, or you have it all the time? Try to note your symptoms, get a BP monitor to see if there are any fluctuations (more than 10 point drops) in BP during the dizziness phase.
Dizziness can or cannot be related to stomach infection, can't just assume things. Even anxiety can cause dizziness.
Try to relax more with some breathing techniques, meditation, yoga and get checked for food allergies (gluten, lactose, etc) to see if things improve.
