Hello all,
my relative was diagnosed with h. p. based on the stool test, but the doctor wants to perform an endoscopy to see what damage there might be and start treatment after that. The problem is that the endoscopy should take place 26 days from now. Since the relative does have stomach pain (mostly not having eaten for some time) and some associated sleeping trouble, I am worried if these 26 days of waiting (without acidity lowering drugs, I guess in order for the endoscopy to view the status quo proper) may not actually create some additional, or even more serious damage to the stomach lining. 26 days should be alright. Our waiting list is much much longer.
H. pylori is a chronic infection. It stays in the human for many many years. Most infected person have it since young and carry it for the rest of their life. Some scientist even believe that H. pylori is a normal flora in the stomach since only a small group of people suffer symptoms from H. pylori.
