Recovery Time After Treatment???

Post by Dublingirl »

Dear HP Experts,

Any chance of giving us HP sufferers a run down of the possible ongoing ailments one might find after treatment and after testing that eradication of HP was successful. You guys have had hundreds of cases to report on and I assume should have some good advice on what to expect. For me... I have gut ache despite being in day 8 of my 10 day treatment. I thought I'd be feeling alot better than this!

Can you give us a snap shot of what the medication has done to the stomach environment? How long the inflammation takes to heal? How long symptoms might last? At what point will I recover.

I guess I want some feedback because right now I feel like crap. I assume the meds make me feel this way but my stomach feels actually worse than it did before I started. So what's going on in stomach???

Your advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks again

Hi,

I must clarify that I am a research scientist, not a medical doctor. So please only use my word as a reference.

Based on literature and medical guideline, there is no special diet recommended for patients after antibiotic treatment. However, probiotic seems very popular among the general public. I believe they help because theoretically they would prevent the bad bacteria to dominate. Then again, from my understanding, not all probiotic does the expected job. only certain bacteria species or strains had scientific articles to backup its actual benefits.

Back to the original question. not all stomach problem is related to H. pylori. In some cases, H. pylori just happened to be there. And removing H. pylori is not solving the problem. Then again, it is also possible that the antibiotics that were suppose to kill H. pylori, also kill the unknown bug. Anyway, non-helicobacter pylori related stomach problem is still very poorly studied. Some suggest fungus, yeast, or parasite. Some even suggest that it's autoimmune disease.

There are some members in this forum suggest the change of diet may help.
