My symptoms - need some help

Hello everybody, (sorry for all gramatic mistakes)
Maybe you can help me and give some helpful advices.

24.11.2011 - i had an endoskopy witch showed moderate chronic gastritis in the pylorus of my stomach and of course HP +

I did't have so intensive symptoms:

1.Lack of appetite
2.Lose weight
3.Sometimes heartburn
4.Often stomach discomfort
5.Belching

I got:
Amoxicillinum - 2x1g
Metronidazolum - 2x250mg
PPI - 2x40mg
for 10 days.

4.01.2012 - i had an stool test and unfortunately - positive.

My doctor said then: we should wait and see what kind of symptoms appear. I am waiting till now and my symptoms are similar. Lack of appetite. I've lost 10kg. I feel not so good as a teenager. I have also big problem after drinking alkohol. My stomach feel terrible 2 days after a good party. I am often tired and have some kind of depression. Till 06.2012 i took a PPI. Now i don't have reflux and think that problem with heartburn is ended. The worst problem is that i can't eat normally. Sometimes i can't look at a food. I am still take probiotic, drink flax and propolis. Last week i felt quite well and today much worse. Helicobacter do it to me ?


During the treatment i feel horrible.

My doctor also said that sometimes helicobacter pylori can have a positive impact for a organism. For example regulate the levels of hormones responsible for hunger. Do you know something about that ?

I don't know what i should do. 2rd line of treatment ?
I am only 23 and feel worse that my dad, who is 55

helicobacter is just one factor of many stomach diseases. alcohol is another.

yes, you can do a second treatment, using clarithromycin, amoxicillin and PPI. or you can discuss with your GP for a quadruple therapy.

Next week i am going to visit my doctor but first of all i want do a test. I don't know which would be better - stool test or urea breath test ? Urea test shows amount of the bacteria ?

I prefer urea breath test over stool test because it's "simpler". The result from UBT is somehow correlated to the bacteria load. However, bacteria load has no correlation to disease outcome.

nevertheless, both UBT and stool tests are accurate.

Wow, you've waited so long to do second line therapy? That is crazy.

Get your second round of triple/quadruple therapy asap, you shouldn't have to suffer for so long.

I eradicated mine back in April, but I still feel like I have it, despite a breath test 1 month after and an endoscopy last month which determined Mild Gastritis and no H Pylori.
Even when you get rid of H. Pylori it can take many months to recover like me.

I've lost 28kg so far, and I'm 21, and still feeling the symptoms like it were day 1. So best of luck to you =]

I have all the symptoms you listed, except I have not had heartburn for 5 months or so.

I've been H. Pylori free for 6 months now, but something just isn't right in my stomach and I'm losing weight very quickly.

My GI is useless, I don't know what to do.

I tkink you need more time to feel better. I heard that good bacteria in bowels need 6 -10 months to rebuild the same level as before a treatment. So take a lot of probiotic.

Today i've done stool test and as i suspected - positive.
I don't know what to do now. I feel not so bad this week. I know that second therpy for 14 days destroy my gastrointestinal tract and for several month i would feel terrible.
Could somebody tell me if any durgs with bizmuth are used now in the treatment ?

There are quadruple therapy that contain bismuth. our treatment plan with ppi, rifabutin, amoxycilin (or bismuth) and ciprofloxacin showed good cure rate (>90%). you probably can discuss with your GP or specialist about this treatment plan.
