Recovery Question

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

H Pylori came back negative, lets just hope its not a false positive.

Can't eat much lately. Doc gave me a script for Pariet (PPI), two months worth.

Lets hope this will do something for me!

usually when doctor suspect you have ulcer, PPI is given for 2 months. If you really have ulcer, it should be healed by then. Then again, just bare in mind that your stomach is no longer acidic and any bacteria can grow. These "new residents" may not be pleasant.

Anyway, let's give 2 months a try. 3 months later, do another followup breath test.

all the best.

Is there anything I can do to prevent these bacteria from growing? Perhaps taking a probiotic? ... Or drinking alcohol :P

I've been double dosing probiotics for about 3 weeks, just ran out. Wondering if it will even do me any good as I have not noticed any benefit from them.

I also ordered some mastic gum, despite the fact that I've read two science journals that say they have next to zero impact on recovery, members on forums elsewhere beg to differ. I would just about spend any amount of money to feel better so can't hurt trying :)

assuming that your health problem is caused by H. pylori. Assuming that your H. pylori is eradicated. Through time, you will recover and you will feel better. We cannot be sure that your health is really caused by H. pylori, but we know how to make sure H. pylori is eradicated. Other than that, just be as normal as possible. sometimes obsessive in something will only bring harm. Probiotic may be good, but I am not sure what happen if you take too much. It's like any drug, with the right amount, the medication will bring you back to normal. but excessively taking the good medication will only destroy your health.

so in conclusion, just monitor yourself. dont over do things.

Ive taken my 9th PPI so far. No difference. Maybe It's a bit too early to say and I might be rushing things, I just find it hard to believe a bug can do so much damage, and cause such a ridiculously unpredictable amount of symptoms! I guess I'm just in a rush to heal because I'm worrying about the lack of food I'm able to eat.
Past 3 days I can hardly eat. When I do I have to walk it off for at least an hour, because if I sit down I'll feel nauseated and uncomfortable in my upper stomach. I honestly don't know if I have improved from last month, if anything my symptoms just change.

Having food in my mouth alone just makes me nauseous today.

Considering Endoscopy, as much as reading about it has made me dizzy. I still see no worthwhile benefit of it. I mean I'm still going to be given a PPI as a result, whether they put a tube down my throat or not.

The feeling in my throat is back. Similar to when I had the lump (or sensation of a lump), except now its not so prominent, however I keep getting this feeling of mucus/phlegm that just wont swallow.
I tried gargling salty water, it kinda worked. but I still felt nauseous from gargling.

Also, is my definition of nausea correct? I don't feel sick like when I had H Pylori, but I feel uncomfortable in the upper stomach and have this feeling of my Esophageal sphincter being loose and that something may come up my throat causing vomiting. Having food in my mouth just causes an odd sensation in my stomach, similar to the feeling of when you have too much food in your mouth and cant swallow it all, its a very similar reaction that my stomach gives to that "oh oh its not going down, so throw it up" lol.

Sorry for flooding the forums with my posts, but I find this a good way to document what's been happening and when. It's especially good that I've been able to find my posts appearing on google, so future H Pylori sufferers know what to expect.

Just a quick update. I took my first 9-10 PPI's as per normal, then I decided to take two a day (morning/night), a couple days later I started taking probiotics again and mastic gum.
The day after I was feeling MUCH better. Coincidence? I believe so.

Because it got to the point where I didn't eat for 2-3 days and then I usually feel better after.

I can now eat a lot better than before. Still having some serious issues with burping/belching after eating. Feels really uncomfortable after eating a relatively medium sized meal. I can only eat 1 meal of this size, then take a few bites of something else. I don't think I'm meeting my daily caloric intake the way I'm going.

Just wondering how much longer till I feel normal again. 2-3 more days and it will be 2 months post anti-biotic treatment. This bug is brutal to the stomach!
I got 1 repeat of nexium for a month. So I might just do normal 1 dose a day of it and if I'm not good by end of June I might just go for an endoscopy or something.
This burping and discomfort is ridiculous.

hmmm.. have you tried gluten free diet? I am not sure how effective it is. Some people believes it helps with the burping.

I haven't been intentionally avoiding gluten but I guess I have been avoiding it. My diet is fair bland with rice + peas + corn + eggs. A nice healthy fried rice with some meat on the occasion.

I believe PPI is the only thing that's been making me feel better. I get random bouts of feeling really unwell for up to 2hrs. But today I was surprised that I could eat a relatively decent meal and not feel like crap after!

But I can still only do 1 meal a day with very little to nibble in between as I'm just not hungry and over-eating is the worst thing for me to do as even that extra mouthful will set me off into "walk around the house for 1 hour trying not to feel sick" mode.

Great. I was feeling better two weeks ago. But now its flared up or something. It's gotten to the stage that i can't even drink water, it's getting bad because my urine is getting a very deep orange colour which is not a good sign..
It feels like a lesser version of H. Pylori when I had it at its worst. At least I'm not in the bathroom for 3-4 hours holding down vomit. But that's about the only difference. Now I can't eat or drink without pains and discomfort at all.

Stupid holidays, I don't get to know when I can see my GI until Tuesday when they are open. Monday is a public holiday. Even then there's probably a 2-4 day wait.

Can anyone recommend over the counter anti-nausea stuff? Had a look for motilium which was recommended by a few forums, but they don't sell it here without a prescription, where other places its over the counter >.<

This Gaviscon double action stuff is crap. Doesn't work for the stomach at all. I tried looking for pepto bismol (or bismuth) and it seems they don't sell it here in Australia.

Slowly sinking into depression..

I went back to read your old post. It seems like you only had one set of treatment, Nexium HP7 in March?

Then you went on for PPI for 2 months or so. your stomach went ok for a short while and now the pain comes back.

in early May, you had your UBT come back negative. Do you know how the actual result? I like to see how negative it is.

Have you had an endoscopy done? what is written in the report? any ulcer?
