H. Plyori & heartburn

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

H. Plyori & heartburn

Post by scats1 »

Hello. I recently finished the two week triple therapy treatment for H. Plyori. I tested positive for it after experiencing sudden, consistent heartburn (and some occasional bloating/gas) for more than one month (very unordinary for a man my age [early 20s] in great health).

I finished the antibiotics a week ago, and the heartburn is still present. It seems as if it has calmed down a slight bit in severity compared to before the treatment, but I have also been eating extremely carefully so it may be due to that.

I've done so much research on this and it seems like some people continue to experience symptoms even after the treatment for a while before it gets better. Does ANYONE have any experience with or knowledge of H. Plyori and heartburn that can speak about this? I'm wondering if this is ever going to go away.

Thank you :)

Hi,

so you had triple therapy and a month later you tested positive again for H. pylori

then you took some more antibiotics, can you tell us what antibiotics you took? for how long?

you are right that the symptoms can persist for some time after eradication. However, in your case, your H. pylori seems resistant to your first treatment.

No, sorry for the confusion.

I meant that the reason why I was tested for H. Plyori in the first place was because I randomly started getting consistent heartburn after just about everything I ate. I went to the a gastro specialist and told him what I was experiencing, and he tested me for it. It came positive.

I took amoxicillin, clarithromycen (brand name Biaxin, but I took the generic), and Prevacid for 2 weeks.

The heartburn is still here, and I finished the treatment a week and a half ago. :(

Hi,

it does take a while for the symptoms to go away as the stomach is slowly recovering itself to normal state.

you'll need to do a follow up breath test without any PPI or antibiotic for at least 3-4 weeks. then we'll know if you had successfully removed the H. pylori.
