Could this happen barjammar?

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

Could this happen barjammar?

Post by redsoxguy »

I posted this in another topic so sorry if this sounds like a double post. I just really want some information from the guys who know their stuff about HP.

In December 2009 I had bad pains in the scrotum so I went to check if it was cancer or anything. They said it was just a infection and gave me doxycicline(sp). I took this for about 40 days and then I went out of town and was so sick for 4 days throwing up when I came home they told me I had a prostate infection and gave me more antibiotics. I got better for about 2 months then on spring break I was throwing up for 4 days again and this time I went to see a GI doc. He found H.Pylori so I went on the trip therapy and I felt really sick on the meds but I stuck it out and I went and got a scope done and he said it was eradicated and to get on prilosec for a month because he thinks since i was on so much antibiotics it caused me to have some gastritis because that's the only thing he found. I took this for a month and wow, THEN I had acid reflux, indigestion and I would be nauseous sometimes and throw up. All my symptoms slowly were going away once I switched to Prilosec to Zantac. After about a month of Zantac I only had a symptom of just a gnawing feeling(once I ate it went away though for that entire day. Didn't hurt, just really annoying). I then switched to Protonix for a month and after I ran out for about a week the gnawing has gone away for good for about 2 weeks now? It started going away once I did acupuncture.

But here is my problem. When I would go out of town I couldn't really eat and some nights I would just throw up once. My doctor said this was due to stressing about BEING sick and I actually worked myself up and would throw up. I was put on a anti-anxiety pill and those made me horribly sick and I told him I think I could control it now since I knew I could work myself up.

This week though my stomach has had that 'sour stomach' and I have been getting a little bit nauseous throughout the day. Since it's been about a year and a half shouldn't I be completly healed by now? Or should I get back on the Protonix and help induce healing? If so how long?

I think since I'm so young that my stomach should make a full recovery? Especially since I was doing good for so long without anything UNTIL I took those Anti-Anxiety pills... Kinda made my stomach upset and it's been 4 days since I last took that pill that made me throw up.

Oh also, I just took the breath test on Sunday when I was at the hospital for a busted eardrum. I took it just to be on the safe side and ease my mind that it didn't come back and that's why I was getting nauseous lately.

I'm just worried that I'll get sick every once in awhile because I was never like this before the HP started. Do you think that eventually my stomach can heal back up back to normal?

Sorry for the late reply. However, I expect that you will gradually settle down in a year or so. The gastritis always remains in mild chronic form, so your stomach may remain 10% abnormal. The acid reflux which developed suggests that you did have damage there in your stomach and the acid level was impaired by the inflammation and the H.pylori. Now H.p. is gone the acid has returned to a normal/high level so you need to take an acid blocker. However, things will gradually improve although you might have a problem occasionally as you described. If the endoscopy is normal, then you just need symptom treatment, acid blockers etc, anti nausea occasionally, and don't stuff yourself with hard to digest food when you are on these trips. I doubt that stress is an issue. I just think you have a slightly damaged stomach which sometimes propels the food backwards!
