Gnawing pain after H.Pylori

Post by redsoxguy »

Hey guys. Its been over a year now after I caught a sever bug and they thought it was a prostate infection so I staid on antibiotics for 30 days with the same symptoms of throwing up,nauseous feeling... They finally ran different tests and found the HP so I did the trip therapy for 14 days(I didn't usually take this with food which I didn't know was a no no). After I eradicated it I started to experience acid reflux/indigestion/gnawing feeling but they all started to slowly go away. The only symptom I have left now is the gnawing pain and that sometimes happens around 10pmish at night. If I eat something it goes away for a good 6-9 hours.

I was just retested with the breath test last week and it came back negative. I also was checked one month after the antibiotics and it was eradicated. I'm just wondering how long the stomach will take to get rid of that last symptom... I got back on the PPI(protonix works the best for me) because maybe I thought since I gave my stomach enough time to heal all the other problems maybe I got off the PPI so soon and maybe it just needs more time? Does this sound possible? Because it's already been a year since I eradicated it all. Thanks.

Good Morning,

I am very new here too...I was first diagnosed 3 years ago after coming home from a trip a took to my parents home in Hornepayne Ontario in March of 08. I remember when I retuned how gawd awful sick I was. It took them several months to diagnose what I had, I had every test you can think of. The first time I was treated, they only gave me one med....the yellow pill (I will get to posting my story and outlining what the meds I am on are).

Interestingly enough, my Father who passed away in December 07 was also being treated for prostrate among other things, but firmly believe after researching this weekend that this is what he had. When I last saw him in November 07 he had bad stomach pains and severe bloating. I reached out to his doctor to confirm if this is what he may have had but have had no response.

I have a sister who is also complaining of sever stomach and gastro problems and they have not been able to identify her problems but after this weekend, HOPE that my findings will help her, as well her 19 year old daughter is suffering from stomach problems.

I would like to know what causes this and how one becomes infected? I have suspicions of water or contact with mould?

You may be surprised, half the world's population is infected with H. pylori. In most cases, they got it from their mother during their young age.

Contaminated water may be source of H. pylori infection. Study has shown that H. pylori can survive in water for up to 4 days. However, I believe the bacteria load is important factor. Meaning, the water has to be very contaminated with high volume of H. pylori to successfully infect another person. I am sorry that I dont have information about the concentration needed for H. pylori to successfully infect another host.

Mould will lead to other diseases. I believe more to do with your respiratory track as you will breath lots of spores into your lungs. It's a perfect environment for mould to grow in your lungs.

How can I find out if my child is infected. My wife doesn't seem to have H. pylori but one never knows...
