My HP is resistant

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

My HP is resistant

Post by Ali »

Hello,
I live in Holland, I am 32 years old, man, I have not a other illness, but a big problem with HP. I have done two times gastroscopy and have not ulcer. But only helicobacter Pylori. I have followed my doctor`s advice. This is my treatment:

2 years ago (begin):
1 > gastroscopy (HP positive); omeprazol (40 mg), amoxicillin(1000mg),clarithromycin (500mg)= two times in a day, total 7 days
2 > breath test (HP positive); only amoxicillin (1000)= two times in a day, total 7 days
3 > breath test (HP negative); ....

now (since six months): the sympthoms again.
1 > breaht test (HP positive); omeprazol (40 mg), amoxicillin(1000mg),clarithromycin (500mg)= two times in a day, total 7 days
2 > breath test (HP positive); Metranidazol (500 mg), amoxicillin(1000mg)= two times in a day, total 7 days
3 > gastroscopy (HP positive, not ulcer); Metranidazol (500 mg) three times in a day, clarithromycin (1000mg) two times. = Now, today is my third day.

Is that treatment good?

Thank you very much,
Ali

Hi, I am no expert , but that treatment seems to be the first line of defence for Pylori. I did it without successs though.

Good luck. Follow the instructions to the letter and eat well and I hope it erradicates it for you

There is a treatment article on-line in one of the other posts - use the search to find it. Then read it. At least you are being carefully managed by your doctors but maybe you need to see a Helicobacter specialist if you remain positive after this treatment. Take the article along and maybe some cash because the third line treatments are somewhat expensive if the government is not paying for them. :ugeek:

Hi,

I have the same problem!!!!

I started feeling sick two years ago and tested positive for HP.
I did the 7 day theraphy with Metranidazole and Amoxicilin for 7 days. After a month I was feeling much better, the doctor ill advised me saying there was no need to re-test as the theraphy is usually very sucessful.

After only 8 months of feeling well I started feeling all the same symptoms AGAIN! The doctor gave me exactly the same medication as before, but that failed to help this time. The doctor then put me on a very high dose of Omeprazole (4x 20mg a day) and domperidone (6x day) I did an endoscopy WHILE on medication (doctor said it was fine! once again, I was ill adviced) and the biopsy came back negativa for HP, doctor said I had moderate gastritis though but couldn't find the cause. I'm not sure if the medication interfered with the results, but it's possible it was a false negative. After about 4 months on 4x Omeprazole 20mg and 6x domperidone a day, I started to feel better and stopped the medication.

I was better for only 4 months, then the same symptoms started once again (a lot of burping, strong stomach pains, vomiting, constant nausea, fatigue, can't eat), the doctor again put me on Omeprazole which did not help much, then Lansoprazole (Which made the pain worse), so I did a breath test and came back positive! I had also done a eosophageal manometry and ph monitoring tests which showed a bit of acid reflux but acid only seems to come back up when I burp and I am burping A LOT! So the doctor put me on Metranidazole, Clarithromycin, Omeprazole and De-nol, I had just finished the course of 7 days, still feel very rubbish and most of all, I feel dishearted... It's still to soon to tell if I'm HP free, and even if I am, what's stopping it from coming back? As it seems to be what is happening here...

Does any one know where to find a "Helicobacter Pylori Specialist"?? (preferably in UK, but I may consider going abroad). Please, can any of the moderators advise on where to find such specialists?

P.S.: Apart from being HP positive, I have no other health problems, I've always had a healthy diet, I'm not a smoker and I don't drink alchool.
