Up to 20 percent of patients with
H.pylori infection are not cured after completing their first course of treatment because the efficacy of the treatment depends from the sensitivity of the bacteria to antibiotics. Therefore, for eradication of non sensitive bugs second and third line of treatment with different combinations of drugs and different regimens could be tried. After completing of the treatment urea breath test or stool antigen test has to be performed to confirm the eradication of the bug. Those tests must be performed 28 days (or later) after completing the course of antibiotics and not less then 7 days after taking a PPI.
Topical treatment curing H.pylori infection - is a method which described by Dr. Ken Kimura in 1995 (more information can be found on our website
http://www.helico.com/treatment). Although, it has been mentioned as an effective method, but this method is not popular among western doctors, in America or Canada to my knowledge. Actually, it is difficult to see why a few hours of gastric treatment couldd be much better than frequent oral dosing.
Dr Marshall tells me that he has admitted occasional patients for 5 days of I.V. amoxicillin and high dose PPI treatment with three hourly round the clock addition of DeNol and tetracycline and has had cures when all else failed (about 7 patients in 15 years!!).

(Thanks also to Dr Kasufumi Kimura for advice from Japan).

Thank you for your reply:
I have tried several treatments and my gut cannot handle the pill treatments. I have IBS/IBD and my GI system is under attack constantly. I ended ER while taking the Pills. As you know ,the Pills don't work for everyone. In my case my small intestines are inflamed due to IBD and this where the pills are absorbed, hence my problems with the pills. In the study/treatment (this therapy forges the small intestine), which is good news for me. I imagine there is reason why this treatment was designed for those who individuals that cannot handle the pills. If the treatment works as it has been shown, there is still hope for people like me.
