PCR Testing

Dr.Marshall,
What do you think of PCR Testing?Do you think it will become the"Gold Standard" of Endoscopic Testing ?

PCR has not caught on because it picks up Hp when they are not actually there and no other test is accurate and sensitive enough to allow you to check up on the accuracy of the PCR test. So it is not a gold standard - it has technical issues. As a Gold Standard the FDA used to use concordance between a biopsy urease test and histology with added culture results if available. This means use several tests. Alternatively, do several breath tests one month apart - two negative tests in a row = cure.
