Struggling with Brain Fog and Fatigue After H. Pylori Treatment – Is This Normal?

Hi everyone,

I finished my H. pylori treatment about a month ago, but I’m still feeling really off — constant brain fog, fatigue, and occasional nausea. My stomach feels better than before, but my energy levels are way down, and I can’t focus at work.

Has anyone else gone through this “post-treatment crash”? I’ve read a few posts about gut imbalance or die-off symptoms, but I’m not sure if that’s what’s happening. I’ve tried probiotics and eating cleaner, but it doesn’t seem to help much yet.

Would really appreciate hearing if anyone else recovered from these lingering symptoms, and how long it took for things to get back to normal.

Thanks in advance 🙏

The side effect from the antibiotics should gradually go away within a week after you stop taking them.

the symptoms from H. pylori may persist until the inflammation goes away. So this is the tricky part. Everyone's immune system is different, and the inflammation will depend on the damage done. Some damage can be permanent, and so the symptoms can persist for a long time.

Totally understand what you’re going through — post-H. pylori recovery can take time. Many people feel off for weeks as their gut rebalances. Keep supporting your digestion and check in with your doctor if it persists

As Helico_expert mentioned, it’s normal for symptoms like brain fog and fatigue to persist for a while, as your body is recovering. Everyone’s immune system reacts differently, and it may take time for your body to fully heal.

Totally normal — a lot of people feel wiped out for weeks after H. pylori treatment. Antibiotics can mess with your gut and energy levels. It usually improves gradually, just takes time. If it doesn’t, checking B12 or iron with a doctor can help.
