Hello, i will start that i had helico 3 years ago and i eredicated it succesfully, but like week ago i went to lab and did helico stool test because i had some pain under left rib and it came back positive.
I was shocked and after few days i went to different lab and tested again, but now result was negative. I was a bit confused so day after i again did the test in again different lab and result again came negative. Now i m not sure what i can do to confirm it?
Is it possible that i got false positive first test?

From symptoms i have pain mainly under left rib, especially when i eat fat, it feels like its swollen and painful on touch, but sometimes its just like twitching pain. I also get pain under right rib too.

From diagonosis before i have hiatal hernia type 3 i think and mild gastritis

not all test is 100%.
Stool test is also relying on the bacterial load.
have you been taking any medication before the stool test? you need to stop any medication that may affect the bacterial load and stomach acid for at least 2 weeks.

also, how did you know your treatment was successful? did you do a follow up test? stool test as well??

perhaps you want to try other type of test, such as breath test or endoscopy.

I dont take any medications that would affect stool test, i already know that, thats why i m confused, and i tested negative after my first eredication from h pylori month after i stopped with antibiotics and ppis

So first stool test was positive and later 2 others from different labs negative

Breath test cant be done in my country and endoscopy is expensive, so i m trying to get advice what to do next?

Should i do again stool test or what would you suggest me?

Maybe you can find out the raw data of the stool test.
sometimes it's just borderline positive.

alternatively, you can ask for blood test. it cant tell you if you have H. pylori now, but a negative blood test would mean you definitely dont have H. pylori.

Hi Aki, if there's pain when you eat fats and it's tender it could be a bile flow issue. Check out TC Hale on YouTube, he has a ton of data about this. In essence, whilst the gall bladder (which stores bile) is on the upper right side of your abdomen) bile enters the duodenum which is just off centre on the left side. Bile is secreted into the duodenum via the sphincter of Oddi, and this sphincter is shared with the pancreas. Bile is what breaks down fats and cholesterol. Sometimes it can get thick and sludgy, and can block this sphincter which ends up "backing up" the bile, sometimes as far back as either the gall bladder (on the right) and/or the pancreas (on the left). Bile flow can be greatly improved with purified bile salts, either ox bile or TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) - indeed it was the first thing I tried when presented with the pains you are describing - no extra pains when eating fats in my case, but I'd been on a keto diet for a week or so, and so I thought the pain was bile related as I'd seriously increased my fat intake. Didn't help in my case, and I'm now getting tested for h.pylori, but as an aside my bloods came back with the finest liver function results!

Check out TC Hale as far as exploring this as a bile related issue is concerned, he has all the good stuff.

The first test (positive) followed by two negatives at different labs strongly suggests the initial result may have been a false positive, especially since the tests were close in time and labs vary in quality.

I ended up talking to a gastroenterologist and they explained that false drive mad positives can happen, especially with the stool test — things like recent meds (PPIs or antibiotics), even sample handling, can mess with the result. My doctor recommended a urea breath test to get a more accurate read, and that one came back negative too, which finally gave me peace of mind.

Symptom-wise, I mostly experience discomfort or pain under the left rib, especially after eating fatty foods. It feels slightly swollen and tender to the touch, and at times, there’s a twitching sensation. Occasionally, I feel pain under my right rib as well.
