Hi. I was also diagnosed after endoscopy with H Pylori and mild chronic inactive gastritis in September 22.

Went through the antibiotics + PPI course and had another endoscopy in March 23 which confirmed Helicobacter had gone or not seen but Mild chronic inactive gastritis was still present.

I have been on 40mg pantoprazole daily since feb 23

Symptoms gradually improved but since May 24 they have returned.. Symptoms mainly tightness or dual pain (sometimes sharp) in the upper abdominal centre right where the rib cage ends. Occasionally heartburn but not a daily Symptoms..

How do I repair the damaged done by Helicobacter? Is this possible

How many years before chronic inactive gastritis develop into something more serious?

Are my symptoms from Chronic Inactive Gastritis or Functional dyspepsia?

Most importantly is to have H. pylori eradicated.
The symptoms are mainly due to the inflammation. Inactive means there is no more pathogen, but the immune cells are still gathering there to prevent the pathogen returning.
so, the symptoms can persist when the inflammation persists.

in most cases, the inflammation will gradually be reduced. the younger you are, the quicker the recovery.
there is no guideline to “repair" damage done by H. pylori. Perhaps you can try probiotics or some herbal regimen.

But is it normal to have symptoms more than one year after eradication of helicobacter? The symptoms occurs as flare up and are not there always

How many years before Chronic Inactive Gastritis becomes IM?

Some symptoms are due to the damage done and can be permanent. But hopefully given enough time, they will gradually recover. The younger the age, the high chance of recovering.

Inactive chronic gastritis is like lots of immune cells gathering, occupying space and causing "crowd effect". They are inactive, meaning they are not causing damage. So, theoretically, it's less likely they will lead to intestinal metaplasia.

The damage itself may cause some symptoms, and they may not go away. However, with any luck, they will start to feel better once some time has passed.
