Symptoms of H Pylori for Years but Negative Stool Tests

Hi everyone,

I’ve had four stool tests analyzed using the DiaSorin LIAISON® Meridian H. pylori SA assay, which is a chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA)—whatever that means!

My first test came back negative, although I suspect the result may have been inaccurate since I had taken mastic gum the day before. That was followed by two inconclusive results, and finally, a second negative test. For the last three tests, I made sure to avoid mastic gum or any antimicrobial substances for at least four weeks prior, to ensure more reliable results.

Despite this, I’m still dealing with severe, burning stomach pain between meals and a wide range of food sensitivities.

I didn’t see stool testing mentioned on this website, so I’m wondering—how accurate is it for detecting H. pylori? I’ve also heard that there are various strains of H. pylori, including some found in animals like cats and dogs. Do standard stool tests detect those strains, or would they require a different kind of test?

For context, my symptoms began after my ex (a medical doctor) pressured me into drinking an unknown fluid. I don’t know how accessible H. pylori is in a medical setting, but it’s something I’ve been wondering about.

If anyone has insights or advice, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!
