Do I need to take Nexium (PPI) with the antibiotic treatment if I don’t have ulcers ?

Yes, you will need PPI to go together with antibiotics.
The antibiotics dont work well in acidic environment.
in the early days when HP was just discovered. Prof Marshall was only using antibiotics in the treatment. The cure rate was like 50%. At that time, a lot of patients was already taking PPI. and he and his colleagues noticed that people who was already taking PPI had a better cure rate. So, triple therapy (PPI + 2 antibiotics) was invented and has a cure rate of over 90% at that time.

Thank you
Is it normal to have a bitter, yucky taste, I think from Klacid?

I’ve had 3 days of antibiotics/nexium but last night I woke with increased pulse rate, fast and strong which scared me. I also had the chills but feeling clammy, and some diarrhoea.
I am worried I can’t finish the treatment, is there another antibiotic that might not be so harsh?

What you described is very mild side effect. Try to finish them if you can.
If the bacteria become resistant, you'll have to take stronger antibiotics with stronger side effects.

I saw doctor today and he has advised to stop the treatment.
He wants to do bloods and check my electrolytes, ECG
My pulse rate has eased today as I guess the antibiotic may have eased out of my system.
I will discuss with him tomorrow again about continuing with this treatment
