Acid Secretion and H. Pylori (Post Treatment)

Does acid production (pending age and demographics of course) usually return to normal after successful eradication of H. Pylori (in this case an infection that had short term symptoms of a few weeks prior to taking a triple therapy)?

Generally have patients, once off of acid reducing medication, found benefits from taking supplementation such as beatain HCL to return acid production to normal levels after a period of it being depressed? Or is that not recommended considering that damage the bug could have done to the stomach lining?

I was just curious what the outcomes were considering that acid production is so important long term for general GI tract health and absorption.

If you are young, then yes, acid production can go back to normal.

It's harder for patients with severe intestinal metaplasia as the acid producing cells are replaced by intestinal cells.

Interestingly, patients with ulcers, normally mean higher acid producer, have less risk of getting stomach cancer.

Stomach cancer is higher among low acid producer. Hence, people with atrophic gastritis is the high risk group.
