I am 65 years old male. I started feeling burning in my chest and stomach in March this year, started taking over the counter medicines, which gave temporary relief. In May, when the burning got worst, my doc ordered stool test for h pylori which came positive. I was put on 7 days triple therapy ( Clarithromycin, Amoxicillin, Lexium). I finished that without any significant side effects. I was told to continue with lexium for 2 months.
I was feeling great as soon as I finished the antibiotics. But since last 4 days my appetite has increased and I am constantly hungry. I am forced to grab a banana or an apple in the middle of night.I have still a month to go taking lexium, before I can go for breath test to see if the bug has gone.
This increase in appetite is affecting my social life and my weight might increase. Please help

I forgot to mention that I take kefir and sauerkraut regularly

yes, when H. pylori is killed, your stomach becomes healthier and can improve appetite.
It may or may not be a good thing.

Why it may not be a good thing apart from weight gain??

In Asia, most people infected with H. pylori are underweight. So for those people, getting rid of H. pylori is probably a good thing to help them gain some weight.
