GERD after H.Pylori

In the FAQ there is this paragraph..

It is unfortunate that some patients do develop reflux symptom (or GERD) after eradication of H. pylori. The reason is unknown and there is no way to prevent it. Those who develop GERD, should take PPI daily to prevent acid damage on the throat or the oesophagus. Some lucky patients, do return to normal after a few months (or years).

Can the experts please elaborate. It appears I am one such case because I have LPR shortly after finishing the antibiotics course for HP. Which I never had earlier. It is a month now and I am back on PPI per doc advise. I have not tested for eradication but I think that is gone because stomach feels a lot better. Bloating is rare, bowel regular etc. No pain. I suppose the doc would want this course of omeprazole to finish in 2 months time before testing again.

If someone gets LPR (but not other GERD symptoms such as chest discomfort, heart burn etc) after HP anntibiotics, are they doomed to suffer for long time or is it just a passing threat?

If you suffer from LPR (Laryngopharyngeal reflux), you should take PPI until it's healed. Try for a month and see how it goes. There is no guarantee that you will be 100% again. But some people does gradually become better.
