What feeds H. pylori?

I have seen studies on which foods might have anti Helicobacter pylori effects. For example, ingesting broccoli, garlic, berries, olive oil, mastic gum, high quality honey etc. seem to lead to partial redemption.
I have also seen studies about what might make an H. pylori situation worse - for instance sugars, salt, nickel and iron.
But what does it actually feed on? What does it need for survival? Does it eat hydrogen, oxygen, sugar, fats, heavy metals or something else?
Could I get better by starving it from its energy sources?
And also, am I right about the statements above?
