Auto immune diseases and H Bacter

I was diagnosed with Graves disease - a thyroid auto immune disease - many years ago. I was hospitalised with it. After leaving the hospital I began to suffer extreme episodes of stomach gastric problems. I changed my diet and it helped a little. Recently, I had a series of episodes which involved diahrrea. vomiting. nausea, burning pain in the stomach which completely debilitated me. Previously, doctors had said my stomach disorders were all thyroid related.

My GP said to test for H Bacter, and the Breath test came back indeterminate. She gave me the option to start the treatment, and I took it because if successful I was hoping it would cure my stomach problems for good.

Anyway, I am now on the treatment. I have diahrrea, probably due to amox, and I'm really really tired.

So some questions.

Is there any research connecting H Bacter to autoimmune diseases such as Graves?
Did I do the right thing taking the treatment?
Are my reactions to the treatment common?
How long before I know if the treatment has worked?

Thanks very much for this.

I am so sorry to hear you’ve been ill.
My daughter’s bloodwork came back that her thyroid levels were off so I did quite a bit of research before seeing a pediatric endocrinologist.

Google “h.pylori and thyroid.”

Here Is a good link;

H. pylori is known to associate with immune related diseases. However, exactly how H. pylori regulate the immune response is not fully understood.

Nevertheless, since you have intermediate breath test result, your doctor can use other diagnostic tests such as stool test, blood test or endoscopy.

Also, since you are already having antibiotic treatment, let's just assume you have H. pylori. And even if you didnt have it, hope that your problem is caused by some other bacteria, which antibiotics can cure you.

Your antibiotics treatment usually include PPI, Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin; 7 or 10 oir 14 days. The recovery is subjective. Some people feel good immediately, but some can take months or years.

Lastly, immune disease is usually difficult to recovery.
