Hello everyone,
first of all I would like to thank all moderators of this forum.
I'm totally new to this forum and would like to know from you how to do with my problem :
I'm suffering because of ulcerated gastritis and the gastroenterologist who performed my gastro-biopsy came with a false-negative result because of non stropping of taking Raberprazole (PPI) before doing this biopsy .
What is important that I'm going to repeat now the gastro-biopsy and culture again to check up the availability of H.Pylori but without PPI for 15 day.
My question is : how can I stop taking PPI before 15 days of performing the biopsy meanwhile I'm suffering because of ulcerated gastritis?
the other question : is there any alternative medication that I could take to stop the painful gastritis during the 15 day before the biopsy?
Please help me to know what to do
Thanking you all

if your ulcer is not too severe, you can take ranitidine during your 15 days wait. talk to your doctor about this option. Otherwise, you'll need to continue PPI a month until your ulcer is healed, then switch to ranitidine for another 2-3 weeks, then book in for endoscopy.

Ranitidine is a type of acid blocker that will not interact with breath/stool test. However, it's acid inhibition is not as good as PPI.

second question:
to avoid false negative, you'll need to stop anything that may interact with the test. do not take aspirin or other NSAID pain killer. they will worsen the ulcer.

thank you so much Helico_expert for replying me, I'm gonna check with Gastro-enterologist regarding taking Randitine during the 15 days before biopsy and let me hope that it doesn't affect on biopsy result too same as PPI, but the question is : does Randitine also interact with the test biopsy and lead to false-negative result same as PPI ?

Ranitidine only temporary reduce acid secretion. so will not interfere with any test for H. pylori.
