Hi,

Recently my father has undergone a endoscopy and he was diagnosed with Antral and corporal gastritis/Hemorrhagic gastritis with small gastric polyp with H.Pylori negative.Doctor suggested some change in food habits and has given antibiotics.The doctor has also advised for a biopsy.What is the situation here?I really can't make out.

Can someone please explain me the situation.It will be of great help.

Hi Ravi,

it's interesting that your father is H. pylori negative and yet given antibiotics. Maybe you meant Proton Pump Inhibitor? PPI are given to reduce the acid.

A biopsy is a good idea. By the way, how was your father diagnosed as HP negative?

Doctor took a endoscopy and then confirmed that it's H.Pylori-. As said doctor also advised my father to have little food for every 3 hours so that the acid does not produce.

Do I have to worry about anything about cancer over here?

If the endoscopy did not see anything abnormal, then it should be alright. Cancer takes time to develop. Your dad can control the acid by taking H2 blockers, eg. Ranitidine.

Thanks! Are the small polyps a cause of worry?Are these polyps common when a person is suffering from gastritis?Also,the final endoscopy result was mentioned as "Gastric polyp".

And,the biopsy result should rule out cancer right?I mean the biopsy results would be accurate enough to judge the type of infection?

polyps are not common and should be monitored closely. what did your specialist say about it? any biopsy for the polyps taken?
