I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on how long someone should try and hope for a full stomach recovery before they accept that their stomach is permanently and irreversibly damaged?

unfortunately the healing is very subjective. Some people heal within a week and some can take as long as months or years. I think it depends on how much damage has already been done. Also, depending on how your stomach adjust itself to a new free of H. pylori environment.
