Doctor never suggested testing

Hi. After normal abdominal ultrasound, and numerous office visits for my symptoms, my doctor (PA) never tested me for h Pylori. She referred me to gastrointestinalist but my appointment was weeks away so i did my research and told her to test me h Pylori. I am positive via blood test and never had h Pylori before. Is this common for doctors to miss this test? I'm questioning whether to find a new doctor as she didn't seem to know how to treat me. I've had to suggest every test from her. I'm glad I only had to suffer a month before figurung out that h Pylori was the cause of all my issues. I had so many body pains but mainly felt very bad after meals (bloating, couldn't pass gas, right rib pain) I am now on triple therapy and feeling almost normal again thanks to my own research and requesting testing. I'm on to the Gastrointerologist Tuesday for my first appointment and I'm not sure I will return to my primary doctor? I think I'm going to find a new doctor? I haven't decided yet but wondered if anyone else's doctor missed this? Thanks

in fact, it is actually quite common that doctors missed H. pylori. In developed countries, H. pylori is so rare that doctors forget about it. In developing countries, doctors are not educated enough to diagnose H. pylori. Nevertheless, a gastroenterologist MUST know about H. pylori and MUST know how to diagnose and cure it. Let's see what your specialist have to say about your case.
