So I felt crappy on n off for a year now. Then it got really bad after a bout of food poisoning in may (don't eat lobster off of a cart). Anyways I tested positive for h pylori and was given a 7 day course of avelox 400mg, rifabutin 300mg once a day, and omeprazole 2 times a day. I am allergic to penicillin and flagyl. Anyways that antibiotics made me so sick I thought I was gonna die. Since completing treatment, my stomach gurgles so loud, I feel nauseated all the time, I'm consripated, and deal with mild burning in stomach from time to time. I'm getting tested Monday to see if the h pylori has been eradicated, but please people give me some hope! Could I feel these symptoms after eradication? I'm terrified that it's not gone. I'm reading all of these horror stories of the 7 day triple therapy not working so I need success stories! Had anyone been cured from the 7 day avelox and rifabutin triple therapy????

the treatment is a strong one and it's common to have the side effects you described. I have heard many patients mentioned about the grumbling sound after treatment. The good news is most of them have that symptom subsided gradually through time. The bad news is, it could last months or years and nobody knows why. My guess is that your stomach is so used to having H. pylori, and now that is cleaned, it's trying to adjust itself to go back to normal.

Also how common is it for that therapy to fail? I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm just so worried. I'll feel a whole lot better once I'mtold its really gone. This has made my anxiety so bad I cry almost e ery day. The doctor told me that this can make my stomach worse. How much do you know about the treatment I used? Not a lot of people know about it so any info would be amazing.
