Hello, I am a diagnosed schizophrenic.

A few years ago I had really bad symptoms of mental illness. However, these days I am pretty much symptom free.

However, sometimes I feel excess air in my stomach...I get so bloated and I feel it spread to my chest, windpipe, neck and head. I sometimes feel strange movement of bones around my shoulder area which allows air to leak into my head. My head and jaw click quite a lot (a build up of air I think).

I have read a few articles on how h.pylori can cause mental illness and would like to find out more about this process, any words would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes

Very interesting topic. However, knowing that more than 50% of the world population is infected with H. pylori, 80% in China, India and many African countries, it'll be hard to believe H. pylori causes severe mental problem.

However, I believe H. pylori may lead to depression as it may cause lots of different digestive problem that affect the patient's quality of life. For example, burping, bloating and reflux all the time, long term relying on PPI, stomach pain, have to spend a lot of energy thinking what to eat and what not to eat, and eventually affect your ability to work and perform.

In addition, H. pylori infection is also known as the risk of gastric cancer. So, patients who had problem eradicating the bacteria raises lots of concern and worries.

So, for all the above and more, it can leads to anxiety and depression.

Its not that funny, I presently have a group and Facebook page with over 700 people who had all complained including myself, of anxiety, rapid heart beat insomnia and time lapse. I experience the later myself. I figure that the antibiotics may have triggered some nerve. Who knows. Helibacter Pylori is exactly as its called HELL.http://www.hpylorihelpdesk.com
