My h pylori treatment

Was prescribed, amoxicillin, tetracycline, metronidazole and protonix.
I read that tetra and amoxicillin dont play well. Is this the case? I keep having terribly painful attacks and want to cure myself once and for all.

Ok so i did some reading on the forum and im quite angry with the physician. I originally was prescribed clarithromycin, but the pharmacy called the docter and asked if they could substitute tetra and metronidazole. The doc said yes apparently. Now i have possibly made the bacteria more resistant and basically screwed my chances of getting rid of it. 2nd day of treatment btw.

I think you are experiencing some "anticipated stress" as your treatment has not been confirmed failed. Since you already started your treatment, I think you should continue and finish it. Stopping it half way may increase their resistance. There are mix datas about the efficacy of Tetracycline and Amoxicillin being used at the moment. Theoretically, we believe that they are bad combination based on the mode of action of these antibiotics. But data gathered showed otherwise in certain region. anyway, I think your chance is getting cure is good. There are many other combinations available if you really failed your current treatment. Most importantly, you have to think positive and stay positive.

Helico expert,
Thanks very much for the reply! Am just wanting to make sure that i can do this in one shot. I very much appreciate the positive thoughts. Am also very strictly following the eating schedule as the tetracycline works better on an empty stomach. Tetra and metronidazole 4 x a day amoxicillin 2x a day and protonix 2 x a day..
Just a lil dizzy so far but otherwise ok,

Ill keep you all updated.
Am supposed to go in for an endoscopy sometime this week.
So far my stomach has been great. No pain, eat whatever i want, no issues at all.
The antibiotics on the other hand are just nasty. I have to take the metronidazole and the tetracycline on an empty stomach and I get pretty dizzy after taking them (dont know which causes this). Its just a really icky feeling. For this reason i cannot exercise as i normally would.
Like i said so far so good with the exception of the antibioticsmaking me feel "off"

Day 5 of treatment.
Tried exercising last night, terrible results. Got dizzy, out of breath, just really weird. Im gonna stick to strength training as opposed to cardio in the mean time.
No bad side effects regarding my stomach from the meds though, I seem to be tolerating them well. Funny thing, i thought i was severy lactose intolerant..... If i ate any sort of yogurt id get bad flatulence and an immediate BM. I wanted to get probiotics intp my stomach so ive been eating greek yogurt. I have had zero negative effects from this where beforehand id be smelly.
Maybe im not lactose intolerant? If i can eat pizza again after treatment ill cry tears of joy haha.

maybe you can tolerate to low level lactose. I am lactose intolerance myself. However, I can eat 2-3 pieces of pizza. maybe half a cup of milk. if i go over the limit, i'll be in trouble.
Also, there is lactease that i like to bring along. It's an enzyme you can buy from chemist. One tablet or two before or after your dairy product, you'll be fine eating any dairy you want.

why didn't you go to visit your own doctor? I think maybe you can tolerate to low level lactose as one of the member suggested above. This is also a good idea.

Johanna,
I went straight to the emergency room last weekend with incredible stomach pain. Worst pain i have ever felt in my entire 31 years. 16 mg morphine did not help.
The doctor assumed h pylori and started me on a quadruple therapy.
How important are the probiotics? Should i be taking them during or just wait till after?
