(TABLE 3 Short-Course Therapy for Eradication of Helicobacter pylori)
http://www.aafp.org/afp/2007/0201/p351.html

Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol), 524 mg four times a day
amoxicillin, 2 g four times a day
metronidazole (Flagyl), 500 mg four times a day
lansoprazole (Prevacid), 60 mg once

Interesting. Thoughts?

One day treatment is indeed interesting idea. However, I wouldnt believe it. I tried to find review articles, but did not see any. In addition, H. pylori can gain resistance so easily if they are not hammered with antibiotics. We have seen many cases where patient stopped antibiotics half way and the bacteria gain resistance. Although I dont have any statistical analysis comparing the success rate with or without completion of antibiotics, my feeling is that you need to make sure it's 100% dead or else it'll be harder to treat later on.

Yeah. What caught my attention is that it showed it to be a higher rate than the standard 14 day, weird, hopefully true. The amoxicillin dose is higher and more frequent. I just started the standard treatment shown on this site. Should I add Pepto-Bismol?

i see no harm including pepto bismol. i remember reading an article about adding pepto bismol with triple therapy and that increases cure rate. Cant seem to find it now. but here is a quick read from the medscape
