Hi... I really need sum advice and reassurance that people get over this... I am feeling very discouraged that I'll never feel normal again. So I just had a baby 6 months ago and have been breastfeeding, I got sick a month ago w such bad heartburn that I haven't been able to eat and I lost a significant amount of weight. I got real bad anxiety and can't leave the house. I have a lot of fatigue and depression. I feel like I can't even take care of my children and now my baby is on formula. Since diagnosis I have been on the triple therapy of clarithromycin, metronidazole and lansoprazole for my heartburn. I still feel that ppi is not enough n today I also took a zantac. I Ave been on the triple therapy for 4 days. How long after you start taking the antibiotics do you start to feel better. I also have chronic constipation and I think this is what a used the hpylori and the pregnancy. I also want to start taking probiotic pills.. I eat yogurt everyday also. So do you think I could take the probiotic pills w the antibiotics? Or do I wait till I finish the triple therapy? Also is there anything else I could do to help? I was thinking vitamin b also.. I think I read somewhere this s good, but what does it help w? Thanks in advance

Hi, just want to remind you... depression is mostly because of hormone. It'll be over. Just hang in there until the nightmare is over. Meanwhile, you can find positive things to do. Things that will take a lot of your time and give you lots of satisfaction. that will distract you from your current mental state.

in regards to your H. pylori treatment, taking zantac on top of omeprazole is fine. In our treatment plan, we normally prescribe double dose of PPI, rabeprazole.

taking probiotic together with antibiotics are also fine. The probiotics doesnt work for everyone. If you feel that it helps, take it.

How long will you feel better? this is very subjective. Some people feel great straight away and for some, could take weeks or months. But the most important tip is to make sure you finish the treatment to avoid antibiotic resistance. You may experience some side effects such as metalic taste in your mouth, diarrhea and fatigue. IN ADDITION, probably a good news, since your baby is on formula, he/she wont get expose to nasty antibiotics.

Lastly, many gastric symptoms are associate with thoughts. The more you think about it, the worse you are going to experience. For example, you probably heard people talk about stomach butterfly when they are nervous. such as on the stage or during exam or interview. So, try to distract yourself with work and gather lots of positive thoughts. Talking to people normally helps. Try join the mother's group.

Hi, I am sorry to hear what you are going through. Remember there is always hope and it is only a matter of time. Let's solve one thing at a time. Your baby issue. Hope she is healthy and fine. Then your H. pylori, just finish the antibiotics and see how it goes. Then your appetite, you probably need to speak to a nutritionist about this.
