What if treatment is unsuccessful!

Hi, I am 36 years of age and was diagnosed as having Hpylori around 5 years ago. This was after several trips to the ED with crippling pain in my upper abdomen, the only reason I discovered the infection was because they refused to check for gallstones. However I have an allergy to penicillin and after 3 courses of eradication therapy the infection was still present. The medical professionals course of treatment was to leave the infection there but have be take omeprazole on a daily basis to coat the stomach and prevent the infection from every causing ulcers etc.

I have recently started to experience chronic hives and I have seen some links to this with helicobactor. Could you advise if I shoud now be seeking further eradication from my medical professional or is the continual use of omeprazole an sufficient life long treatment?

Many Thanks

Hi, do you remember the antibiotics you have tried? If you can, try visit a specialist and ask for an antibiotic sensitivity test on the H. pylori collected from your biopsy. That will tell us what antibiotics you should take to efficiently eradicate it.
