Hi
After 1.5 years with h pylori and 2 failed triple therapies im about to try quadruple therapy.
in January 2014 I had:
Amox, clarith, and Lanzopraprazole for 7 days

in Feb 2014 I had :
metron, tetracycline, and lanzoprazole

Now ive been given:
Rifabutin, Ciproflaxacin, Bismuth and Lanzoprazole

However I DO NOT want to take Ciprofaxacin as Ive read some awful stories about Tedonitis and terrible side effects with fluoroquinolone based drugs. Is there an alternative I can take instead of Cipro? Ive looked at the "In house treatment" plan sheet you recommend on here but I had side effects from Amoxcillin so I may have an allergy. Ive also taken Tetracyclin before and don't want to take this again as I have developed an immunity to it.

so I need another antibiotic to accompany Rifabutin, Bismuth and lanzoprazole. Please help!

Ciprofloxacin and other quinolones have been on market for a very long time. It is better you try them before moving into other more terrible antibiotics. Besides, we are really running out of options as you may aware, there isnt much choice left if you are already resistance to metronidazole and clarithromycin, and you dont want ciprofloxacin, amoxicillin and tetracycline.

However, H. pylori never get resistance to amoxicillin. So you can always add amoxicillin in your treatment. Also, there are better quinolones, such as levofloxacin and moxifloxacin. They are newer invention and perhaps will less side effects.

So h pylori never get resistant to Amoxicillin? Well i guess i could try this again then and have a test first to see if i have an allergy to it. Would amoxcillin work with rifabutin and bismuth, with lanzoprazole?

Yea.. H. pylori is very sensitive to amox. In addition, H. pylori dont get resistance to bismuth too. So you can always combine these two antibiotics with one other and PPI.
