Did the antibiotics stop working??

I was diagnosed with H. pylori and started a 14-day course of clarithomycin, metrodinazole and omeprazole on 10/23. I immediately had horrible side effects: nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, stomach pain, a metallic taste, dry mouth, bloating, loud stomach noises and heartburn. The symptoms after starting the medication are worse than anything I was experiencing before (for instance, I've never had heartburn). For some years (after food poisoning), I've experienced bloating and loose bowel movements after eating certain foods (mainly dairy) but thought I was just lactose intolerant or something. My dermatologist tested for H. pylori with a round of other tests because I was breaking out in hives/rash. Anyhow, today was my 9th day of treatment and it's been...okay. I had a little metallic taste early this morning and some stomach noises later in the day but other than that I'm not having any of the symptoms from the medication. Does that mean the antibiotics might have stopped working? I'm confused and a little scared that I'm not having any symptoms any more because the treatment isn't doing anything.

I think it's more to do with the microflora being disturbed. You are doing very well. Try to complete the course to avoid resistance. you may try some probiotics or tea to calm your side effects.

Thank you! So you don't think the sudden stop of symptoms means this medication stopped working or something? Unfortunately, this morning the noisy stomach and metallic taste is back. I need to figure out what I did differently yesterday.

The metallic taste is the side effect of Clarithromycin. It'll go away almost immediately after stopping. Dont need to worry about it.
