I read somewhere that one of the risk factors for H.pylori can be if the patient grew up in the home with many people. I was just diagnosed with H.pylori & was pretty floored when I read this. I have 11 brothers & sisters. We all lived in a 2-bedroom home in the 1960's & 1970's. I slept in a bedroom with 4 other kids. Also, I just found out that my sister has had this a few years ago, but haven't asked my other siblings. Has anyone else heard of this? Is there any proof of this?

it is true that living together with lots of people under one roof increases the chance of transmission. Hygiene is the key to avoid transmission and it'll be difficult to practice in a crowded family. eg: children constantly putting toys in their mouth and sharing toys.
