Breath Test - Negative

I had an endoscopy about a week ago, as well as a breath test. The breath test results came back negative for H Pylori. I was off PPIs for 10 days before taking the breath test.
The dr said everything looked normal for my endoscopy. He even wrote " no worries" at the bottom of the findings sheet. He suggested to take tecta if I still experience heartburn. He took biopsies and will call if anything is positive. He didn't find any hernias, ulcers, inflammation, scarring, etc.. he wrote normal for everything he checked in the esophagus and stomach.
I am still experiencing heartburn. I am not taking any medication, I have been trying to reduce triggering food, which has been helping.

I think the bright side is, everything looks normal. No ulcer, no hernia, no scarring, no inflammation, and most of all, no cancer.
The heart burn your are experiencing, unfortunately it may not be helicobacter related. Let's wait for your histology result. If there is anything, the histology will tell.

May I ask, if everything is normal and also the breath test is negative, what was the reason for him to take biopsies? What was he checking for?

the biopsies are for histologist to surprise us with unexpected results. You can be H. pylori positive and have a very normal endoscopy examination. The histology will tell if you are having active or chronic inflammation. The pathologist can also see Helicobacter pylori, if present. or other Helicobacter species if it looks slightly fatter or longer or in a wrong location. The pathologist can also review the level of inflammation and stain particular immune cells.
Basically, it is just another diagnostic method just in case we miss out anything.

Makes sense. I have another question, may be it is lame. Will the inflammation not visible on the camera?

Asked because my Doc didn't take any biopsies.
This is what he commented.
FINDINGS AND INTERVENTIONS:
Esophagus: Normal in appearance.
Stomach: Normal in appearance.
Duodenum: Normal in appearance.
ADVERSE EVENTS (immediate and/or post-procedural): None
IMPRESSION:
Normal Upper Gastrointestinal Tract
I asked him repeatedly if he saw any inflammation and he said NO.

Some specialist doesnt really care much about the strains, the inflammation level, the breath test level, the blood test level and etc.
as long as one of the tests show positive result, the treatment is the same for all h. pylori.
some doctors even dont worry about endoscopy. with or without ulcer, just take one month PPI. The PPI is pretty safe and if you have ulcer, the one month PPI will help it healed. If you have HP, the antibiotics will kill it.
