After Treatment...What Now?

I was recently diagnosed and took a 10 day treatment of three antibiotics and an acid blocker. Now that I'm finished, I'm wondering what to do next. First, should I get a re-test to confirm that the treatment worked? My doctor said it should work and I wouldn't need a re-test, but I'm not sure. Second, the final few days of treatment really took their toll on me. I was unable to keep much down except for chicken broth, some crackers and bananas. I'm a bit nervous to start back on "normal" food too quickly. From what I read, I need to reintroduce the good bacteria back into my system by taking a probiotic. I did start drinking kefir each night to start slowly, but I was hoping to take a probiotic pill as well. Is this the right move? My doctor thinks I have an ulcer as well so should I abstain from spicy or greasy foods for a certain about of time to allow the ulcer to heal?

Thanks for your help!!!

Shaun

I would highly recommend for a retest to confirm the eradication. Because what happened one or two years later you are feeling sick again and is tested positive, then you will never know if it is because of this treatment failed (which may lead to antibiotic resistance), or you are infected by someone else.

There is no guideline for "what's next" after antibiotic treatment. Some people feel good straight away, some took months to recover, some said probiotics help and so on. I think you need to give your stomach some time to recover. Get plenty of fruits and gather lots of positive thoughts.
